Man arrested for holding woman at gunpoint

A Fort Dodge man has been arrested for putting a gun to the head of a woman Sunday night.

Matthew J. Crimmins, 42, of 201 21st Ave. S., was arrested by Fort Dodge police and charged with assault while displaying a dangerous weapon, first degree harassment, person ineligible to carry dangerous weapons, and domestic abuse assault — display or use of a weapon.

The incident happened at 9 p.m. Sunday in the 2400 block of Fifth Avenue South.

Crimmins placed a handgun against the woman’s head and threatened to shoot her, according to criminal complaints filed against him.

Police reported in those complaints that Crimmins had a blood alcohol content of .162, according to a preliminary breath test. A blood alcohol content of .08 is considered legally intoxicated.

Crimmins made his initial appearance in Webster County Magistrate Court Monday. A preliminary hearing was set for May 2. A no contact order prohibiting him from having contact with the woman was issued.
