Elderbridge Agency on Aging and Upper Des Moines Opportunity are partnering for Santa for Seniors. As the holiday season approaches, seniors in our community need support, now more than ever. Goodwill offers vouchers to veterans

Veterans and current members of the military can now get a free $40 store voucher at the Goodwill store in Fort Dodge, according to Goodwill of the Great Plains. The vouchers are part of the Boots to Suits program that continues through Nov. 14. To get a voucher, veterans should go to the Goodwill store at 2735 Fifth Ave. S. Proof of military service, such as a military ID, will be required.

Work planned on North 15th Street

Traffic will be restricted on a portion of North 15th Street today because of road repairs, according to the Fort Dodge Public Works Department. Flaggers will be positioned at 15th Street and 24th Avenue North and 15th Street and 31st Avenue North to direct traffic through the area.

Humboldt farmer gets solar power grant

HUMBOLDT — A Humboldt County farmer is one of the beneficiaries of the rural investments President Joe Biden announced Wednesday. John Myers received an $18,656 rural development grant, according to an announcement from the White House. That money will help pay for installing a 22 kilowatt solar array. The president announced more than $5 billion in spending, largely in rural areas. It will go toward better adapting agriculture to climate change, as well as expanding high-speed internet access and improving local infrastructure. Iowa Central team offers yard raking this Saturday

The Iowa Central Community College women’s basketball team is looking for some yards in need of raking. The team is planning a community service day on Saturday. As part of its service day, the team wants to rake leaves for senior citizens, the disabled or anyone else who needs a helping hand. Friends of Library book sale is this week

The Friends of the Fort Dodge Public Library fall book sale is this week. Sale hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today through Friday and 9 a.m. to noon Saturday. On Friday, customers can fill a bag with books for $3. On Saturday, anything that they can fit in a bag will cost $1.
