One injured in Tuesday crash

CALLENDER — At least one person was injured in a crash involving a semitrailer and a passenger vehicle Tuesday afternoon in Webster County. The crash happened at U.S. Highway 169 and 290th Street at about 3 p.m. It remained under investigation Tuesday night. Firefighters from Callender and Gowrie, the Southwest Webster Emergency Medical Service, an ambulance from the Fort Dodge Fire Department and Webster County sheriff’s deputies responded.

Avian influenza proclamation extended in area counties

A state disaster proclamation issued in response to an outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza in three local counties has been extended. Gov. Kim Reynolds announced Friday that she has extended the disaster proclamation in Hamilton, Kossuth and Pocahontas counties through Dec. 17. Buena Vista, Clay and Taylor counties are also included in the extension. One injured in Wright County crash

EAGLE GROVE — The driver of a semitrailer sustained minor injuries after a collision that involved a farm tractor hauling a farm implement on Iowa Highway 17 on Thursday evening. According to Wright County Sheriff’s Deputy Tony Pieczko, the semi driver was transported to a local hospital via ambulance and was later released. The accident remains under investigation. The regional hazardous materials team from the Fort Dodge Fire Department was called to the crash because of a diesel fuel spill.

Coats for Kids donation deadline is Friday

The Community Health Center of Fort Dodge and Shimkat Motor Co. are seeking the community’s help in fulfilling the need for warm winter gear for local children. Donations of new or gently used clean coats, gloves, hats, snow pants and boots are being accepted now at Shimkat Motor Co., 3126 Fifth Ave. S.
