FD Police Dept. gets two new officers

Two new Fort Dodge police officers will be reporting for duty today. Officers Madison Anderson and Kevin Smith were introduced to the City Council Monday evening. They are filling two vacancies, which will bring the Police Department up to its full strength of 40 members. Anderson is a graduate of Eagle Grove High School. She earned an associate degree from Iowa Central Community College and a bachelor’s degree from Buena Vista University in Storm Lake. She is a veteran of the Iowa National Guard. St. Paul to accept preschool registrations

St. Paul Lutheran School will begin accepting applications on Friday for preschool for the 2024-2025 school year. Children who will be 4 years old by Sept. 15, 2024, may be registered for 4-year-old preschool, which is offered Monday through Friday in the mornings with the option of Enrichment Care in the afternoon. Children who will be 3 years old by Sept. 15, 2024, may be registered for Monday/Wednesday/Friday or Tuesday/Thursday classes with morning or afternoon options. Burnside man running for Board of Supervisors

Nathan Montgomery, of Burnside, announced Tuesday his plans to run for the District 2 seat on the Webster County Board of Supervisors during the 2024 election. Montgomery is running as a Republican. He is a 2019 graduate of St. Edmond Catholic School. He operates a lawn care service. District 2 covers most of the southern half of Webster County. The District 2 seat is currently filled by Mark Campbell, a Democrat.

Le Claire man arrested after driving drunk, leading pursuit

A Le Claire man who was found slumped over behind the wheel on the exit ramp of U.S. Highway 20 and Webster County Road P59 with the vehicle still in drive has been charged with felony eluding and driving drunk after leading an Iowa State Patrol trooper on a brief pursuit through Coalville on Monday. According to criminal complaints, a “concerned citizen” reported the “poor driving behavior” of 53-year-old Michael Leon Paxton and when ISP Sgt. Alleged bath bandit busted in Fort Dodge

An illicit bath could send a Fort Dodge man to prison for up to five years. According to court records, 40-year-old Daniel Mark Martin is charged with one count of third-degree burglary, a Class D felony. The criminal complaint alleges that between 7 a.m. and 8 a.m. on Tuesday, Martin kicked in a locked door of a vacant house in the 1300 block of Second Avenue North. Martin then allegedly ran a bath, “therefore taking something that did not belong to him,” Fort Dodge Police Officer Matt English wrote. CFR seeks donations

Community & Family Resources, a mental health and addiction treatment organization, is seeking donations for its wish list of items for its adult programs. The list includes mens and womens underwear, mens and womens socks, sports bras, bodywash, lotion, art supplies, winter hats, gloves, long distance calling cards, hard candy, throw blankets and journals. Donated items can be dropped off at Community & Family Resources, 211 Ave. M West.
