Three area students were named to the President’s List at Mercy College of Health Sciences in Des Moines for the winter 2024 quarter. They are Raven Parrish, of Fort Dodge; Cheyenne Groat, of Thor; and Ashley Riedesel, of Wesley. To be named to the Presidents List, they had to earn a grade point average of at least 3.75 for a minimum of four credit hours.
Upper Des Moines Opportunity, Inc. is holding an April donation drive to help others. Hygiene items such as shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, toilet paper, brushes and combs and shaving creams may be donated at UDMO, 704 Central Ave. Hygiene products are crucial yet not readily available to all. Donations will be distributed within the community.
The annual Easter Egg Hunt conducted by the Fort Dodge Moose Lodge will be held today at Dodger Stadium. The event was rescheduled due to weather. The hunt is for children aged 18 months through fourth grade. Admission is 50 cents per child. Children must be present. Registration begins at 10:45 a.m. today. Prizes will be awarded at the conclusion. No pets will be allowed at the event. Smoking is prohibited. A bomb threat directed at the Fort Dodge Middle School Wednesday afternoon remains under investigation. No bombs were found during a methodical search of the building by about 25 law enforcement officers. “At this time there is no reason to believe that the physical safety of any student or staff was ever in danger,” Police Chief Dennis Quinn said in a written statement.
