Two injured in crash with train

WOOLSTOCK — Two Webster City residents were injured when their vehicle struck a moving train around 6:40 p.m. Saturday. According to an accident report from the Iowa State Patrol, Haley Marie Hanus, 26, was driving a 2016 Toyota Prius eastbound on 330th Street in Wright County when the vehicle struck a moving train. Duwarn Richard Glover Jr., 26, was a passenger in the car. They were both injured and were transported to MercyOne Des Moines by Mercy Air Med. VBS planned this week at Rolling Hills Church

Vacation Bible School at Rolling Hills Community Church, 2891 N. 15th St., will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. beginning Monday and continuing through Aug. 5, according to an announcement from the church.. “Breaker Rock Beach” is the theme for this year’s Vacation Bible School. Kids will learn about mission adventures, and Bible stories. There will also be music, recreation and snacks. The program is for children in kindergarten through sixth grade. Registration is 6 p.m. Sunday at the church. There will be games and refreshments during registration.

Audit report released on city government

Cornwell, Frideres, Maher & Associates, of Fort Dodge, released an audit report on the Fort Dodge city government for the 2022-2023 fiscal year. During that fiscal year, the city’s revenues totaled $69,931,435. That is a 6.3 percent increase from the prior fiscal year, according to the auditors. The increase was primarily due to an increase in grants, ambulance revenue and utility revenue. Expenses for that fiscal year total $65,759,691. Four area residents have been named to various state boards and commissions by Gov. Kim Reynolds. The appointments are: • Amanda Miller, of Pocahontas County, to the Board of Sign Language Interpreters and Transliterators • Ashtyn Zinn, of Webster County, to the Bioscience Development Corp. Board • Ellen Hagen, of Hamilton County, to the Fire Service and Emergency Response Council • Christopher Jones, of Webster County, to the Commission of Deaf Services

Drake releases honors lists

Several area students were named to the President’s List or the Dean’s List for the spring semester at Drake University in Des Moines. To be eligible for the Dean’s List, students must have earned a grade point average of 3.5 or higher.
