Congressional aide to visit area

An aide to U.S. Rep. Randy Feenstra, R-Hull, will visit several area communities this month to help residents with things like passports, Social Security, veterans benefits and IRS issues. The schedule is: • Clarion: 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Oct. 23, Wright County Courthouse, 115 N. Main St. • Gowrie: 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Gowrie Public Library, 1204 Market St. • Humboldt: 11 a.m. to noon Oct. 23, Humboldt City Hall, 29 Fifth St. S. • Laurens: Noon to 1 p.m. Thursday, Laurens City Hall, 272 N. Third St.

Livermore UWF fundraiser Thursday

LIVERMORE — Livermore United Women in Faith are serving a freewill offering meal from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Thursday in the Livermore Methodist Church basement. The menu is Mom’s Maid-Rite sandwiches with all the fixings, chips, salad bar, sherbet, water and coffee. Carryouts will be available by calling 515-890-8909.

Westside Church winter clothing event set

Westside Church of Christ, 1132 A St., will be offering free winter coats and clothing to anyone in need from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the church.

Sale on Saturday to benefit Rockwell City depot

ROCKWELL CITY — A hobo and bake sale will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Landmark Depot in Rockwell City. A variety of items, including home decor and holiday decorations, will be available. Upon arriving at the depot, shoppers should pick up a bag, place their items in it and give a donation when leaving. Chili will be served from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. A cup of chili will cost $1. A bottle of water will cost $1. All proceeds from this event will be used to help pay for the upkeep of the depot.

Pet Blessing scheduled for Sunday

A Pet Blessing will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the parking lot of Grace Lutheran Church, 211 S. Ninth St. Bring your leashed or caged pet to be blessed and a lawn chair for yourself. Freewill donations will be accepted to benefit Almost Home Humane Society of North Central Iowa. Event is sponsored by Grace Lutheran Church and St. Mark’s Episcopal Church.

FD intersection to be closed

The intersection of Eighth Avenue South and 22nd Street will be closed to traffic beginning today for maintenance work, according to an announcement from the Fort Dodge Public Works Department. It will remain closed until the work is completed.
