Controlled burns planned at Brushy

LEHIGH — Prescribed burning will be conducted in Brushy Creek State Recreation Area through May, according to the Iowa Department of Natural Resources. Detailed burn plans are created for each area, and safety is always the No. 1 consideration in the timing of each burn, the department reported. OneVision Thrift Store rewards club launch party April 5

OneVision Thrift Store, 12 N. 25th St., is holding a launch party for its new ValueQuest Rewards Club from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. April 5. There will be door prizes, promotional gifts, food and drinks and members can earn double loyalty points.

Saturday in Service is April 12

Trinity United Methodist Church, 838 N. 25th St., is hosting Saturday in Service from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 12. Those attending will weave sleeping mats out of plastic grocery bags for unhoused and displaced persons, sew reusable feminine hygiene pads and school bags, and collect medical equipment. There will be crafts for children. All supplies are provided. Lunch is included and there is no cost. Everyone is welcome. Veterans outreach is April 10

The Webster County Veterans Affairs Commission is holding a Veterans Outreach at 2 p.m. or 6 p.m. on April 10 at the VFW, 518 S. 29th St. Veterans can hear about veteran’s benefits from a host of different presenters. Many topics will be discussed. This is a great opportunity for veterans, spouses and widows to get information on benefits.
