Part of First Avenue South to be closed

First Avenue South between 13th and 14th streets will be closed today, according to the Fort Dodge city engineer’s office. It will be closed for one day. But after the road reopens, there will be a lane reduction in place for about a week. This closure is necessary for some private sanitary sewer maintenance.

Fundraiser for Youth Shelter Care is Thursday

A special event Thursday evening will raise money for the construction of a recreation room/gym for Youth Shelter Care of North Central Iowa Inc. The Team Up For Our Youth Fundraiser, conducted by Fort Dodge Study Club, will begin at 6 p.m. Thursday in the Laramar Ballroom, 710 First Ave. N. It will feature DJ bingo, food, drinks, and a silent auction. Tickets cost $35 each or two for $60. They can be purchased at the door; at Hy-Vee, 115 S. 29th St.; or through Venmo.
