FD man charged with starving puppy

A Fort Dodge man has been arrested and charged with starving a puppy to death, according to court records. Larry Leroy Roberts Cook, 25, 510 S. 20th St., was arrested by Fort Dodge police and charged with animal neglect with serious injury or death, court records indicate. In the criminal complaint filed against Cook, police wrote that between Sept. 17, 2025, and Nov. 9, 2025, he starved a German shepherd puppy to death. Moose Lodge Egg Hunt will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. today, at Moose Lodge, 424 First Ave. S., as a drive through with a bag of candy for the first 200 kids. There is no charge.

Fort Dodge Area Symphony concert is Sunday

The Fort Dodge Area Symphony will have its final concert of the 2025-2026 season Sunday. The concert will begin at 3 p.m. in the Fort Dodge Middle School auditorium, 800 N. 32nd St. Titled “Beyond the Horizon,” it will feature the symphony’s Young Artist Competition winners. They are Qimen Michael Li on violin, Carson Menke on marimba and Jonathan Stoker on piano. Meth deals send FD man to prison

A Fort Dodge man is heading to federal prison for 12 years on drug charges, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Iowa reported. Marcus Hill, 33, had pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine and distribution of methamphetamine near a protected location, federal prosecutors reported. According to the Attorney’s Office, Hill admitted to distributing methamphetamine between 2018 and March 2025. Garden Club to meet Tuesday

The Fort Dodge Federated Garden Club meeting is 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Lion’s Den, 731 Exposition Drive. The program will be lead by Rita Milberger. The club members will be making Fairy Wands to be sold at the club’s annual plant sale that will be held May 7 at the Lion’s Den. Visitors are welcome.
