ROCKWELL CITY — Students at South Central Calhoun Middle School will host a Mental Health Awareness event featuring their Inside Out Boxes — a creative project that helps students express emotions and experiences that are often unseen to normalize talking about mental health. Registration for the 2026-2027 academic year in the Fort Dodge Community School District is now open and will continue through June 30. New families enrolling in the district must provide the required documentation at the time of registration. Grace Lutheran Church to hold bake sale, rummage sale Friday and Saturday

Grace Lutheran Church, 211 S. Ninth St., will hold its annual rummage sale, bake sale, lunch and silent auction from noon to 6 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to noon Saturday. The Grace Cafe will be serving sloppy joes, chips, homemade pie, and a drink in the main level Fireside Room. On Saturday, there will be a $2 bag sale from 10 a.m. to noon. All proceeds go to education scholarships for companion congregation students in Matembwe Tanzania, Lutheran Disaster Response, the Lord’s Cupboard and SALT Center.

Medical issue caused death of man found in Fort Dodge

A deceased man was found behind some commercial buildings near Fifth Avenue South and 29th Street early Monday afternoon. A medical issue caused the man’s death, according to Fort Dodge Police Chief Dennis Quinn. At about 1:15 p.m., the police and fire departments were dispatched to an area just northeast of the intersection, between a store and a hotel, for a report of a man who was unresponsive.
