UnityPoint completes contract with Veterans Administration

UnityPoint Health has completed its contract with the Veterans Affairs Community Network, the health care organization announced on Tuesday.

UnityPoint was working with the VA to participate in its Community Care Network.

The Community Care Network was established under the VA Mission Act that was enacted by Congress in 2018.

The program allows VA medical staff to arrange for care for veterans from providers in the local community.

The network of participating providers is managed by regional Third Party Administrators (TPAs) who handle a variety of functions, including claims processing, referrals and authorizations.

While the hospital was finalizing its contract to participate in the Community Care Network, UnityPoint Health was not able to accept new VA patients without a referral.

“UnityPoint Health is pleased to announce the contract with the Veterans Affairs Community Network has been signed and completed,” the organization said in a statement.
