Power outage hits Fort Dodge
About 2,000 MidAmerican Energy customers in Fort Dodge lost electrical service for about an hour Wednesday afternoon.
Ashton Newman, a spokeswoman for the utility, said the power outage was weather-related.
“We believe a piece of equipment on a pole was hit by lightning,” she said.
Newman said the power outage began at 3:34 p.m. She said service to most of the 2,036 affected customers was restored by 4:41 p.m.
She didn’t have any information on what parts of the city were affected.
