Fort Dodge City Council to start budget work
The Fort Dodge City Council will begin its work on the next municipal budget when it meets this evening.
The council will meet at 5 p.m. in the Municipal Building, 819 First Ave. S., for a budget workshop. The proposed spending plans for the water system, sanitary sewer system and Fort Dodge Fiber, the municipal broadband utility, will be reviewed.
The council will also review proposed spending of road use tax revenue. The road use tax is the city’s share of gasoline tax and vehicle registration revenues.
The budget being developed is for the fiscal year that begins July 1, 2026. But the city is required to have its budget completed well before that date.
The council’s regular business meeting will begin at 6 p.m. in the Municipal Building.
During that session the council will consider the third and final reading of a measure rezoning some city-owned property along Fifth Avenue South between 15th and 19th streets to a commercial designation.
