The Webster County Board of Supervisors meets in the Webster County Courthouse at 10 a.m. on Tuesdays.

The Webster County Board of Supervisors approved the final payment for the Dayton Trail and Community Center project Tuesday, closing out a multi-year betterment project.

The supervisors approved the payment of $139,660.94 to Nick Sesker Construction, of Ogden, for work on the Community Center.

Both the trail and the center were part of a quality of life initiative launched in 2022.

Webster County is the fiscal agent for the trail projects as well as the Dayton Community Center and is reimbursed through the Destination Iowa grant program.

In March 2023, an $800,000 Destination Iowa grant was awarded for the Community Center.

“We’re on track like we had planned from an expenditures standpoint by the end of the calendar year,” said Matt Cosgrove, Webster County Conservation director.

Cosgrove also placed on file with the supervisors the annual Conservation Board report which includes a five-year strategic plan, mission, and a new staff photo.

The supervisors also held a public hearing and second consideration for an amendment to the platting ordinance, repealing paragraphs one and two.

According to Jeff Johnson, planning and zoning administrator, the amendment will no longer require disinterested parties in a subdivision to pay to have their land surveyed.

“I think we’re all on the same page that we didn’t want a disinterested third-party within the 40 (acres) to get stuck with a survey bill when they didn’t split anything,” said County Attorney Darren Driscoll.

Final consideration of the amendment will be held at the supervisors upcoming meeting.

The supervisors also approved Webster County Engineer Jamie Johll to attend the 2026 National Association of County Engineers conference in Arlington, Texas.

At the close of the meeting, Driscoll announced that later this week he will be sworn in as president of the Iowa County Attorney Association.

Starting at $4.94/week.
