Supervisors to hold hearing on 2026 budget
Leadership salaries may be discussed
The Webster County Board of Supervisors will meet this morning to discuss and potentially approve the 2026 fiscal year county budget.
The public hearing will be held at 10 a.m. in the Supervisors Board Room at the Webster County Courthouse.
The salaries of Webster County department leadership are anticipated to be discussed at the meeting.
Earlier this month the Conference Board approved a 9.75% increase for Assessor Angie Vinson. Webster County Sheriff Luke Fleener was granted a 9.75% increase at last week’s Supervisors meeting. Fleener’s increase was approved as part of Back The Blue legislation, which was introduced in 2021 and states that county compensation boards must set sheriff’s salaries at levels comparable to those in command with city police chiefs and command officers with similar populations to the county. Though Fleener could have asked for more than 9.75% based on comparable salaries, he did not. Fleener’s salary increase will be funded through the county’s rural basic fund.
The supervisors also approved 2% increases last week for the county treasurer, recorder, auditor, and county attorney.
The public will be allowed to ask questions prior to the budget resolution being voted on.
