CALLENDER — A time capsule placed inside the Prairie Elementary School sign on May 26, 1976, will be opened at 1 p.m. SATURDAY before being moved to the Gowrie Historical Museum. There will be refreshments in the City Park afterward.

WEBSTER CITY — The Kendall Young Library will hold a family summer kickoff party from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. SUNDAY at the library. There will be hot dogs, chips and cookies, balloon art, games, face painting and live music by Chad Elliot.

In Fort Dodge

FORT DODGE — Fort Dodge Summerfest will begin with the opening of the vendor fair at 3 p.m. TODAY. The carnival will open at 4 p.m, followed by a series of live music performances. On SATURDAY, the day kicks off with a free pancake breakfast from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m, hosted by Prairie Lakes Church. The vendor fair opens at 10 a.m., followed by the carnival and live music stage opening later in the afternoon. The event culminates with a laser and music show at 9 p.m.

FORT DODGE — The Fort Museum, 1 Museum Road, will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. TODAY, and noon to 4 p.m. SATURDAY and SUNDAY. Admission is $10 for adults, $8 for students and veterans with ID, $4 for children ages 5-17 and free for children ages 4 and younger.
