FD man caught after robbing 2 Casey’s stores on Tuesday

Perez charged with robbery, 2 counts of theft

A Fort Dodge man has been arrested for robbery and theft from two Casey’s stores on Tuesday, police reported.

Christafer T. Perez, 20, has been arrested and charged with second-degree robbery as well as two counts of theft in the fifth degree, interference with official acts, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to Fort Dodge Police Chief Dennis Quinn, at approximately 3:36 a.m., Perez entered the Casey’s General Store at 3327 Fifth Ave. S., and demanded money from the cashier before leaving on foot. No weapon was displayed during the incident.

When officers arrived on scene, they spoke to the victim and other witnesses who provided a description of the suspect.

Later in the morning, at approximately 9:33 a.m., the Casey’s General Store at 2007 N. 15th St, contacted law enforcement to report that a man had just left the store without paying for items. The caller indicated that the suspect had left southbound on a bicycle.

An officer in the area quickly located a man matching the description given by the caller. The suspect attempted to elude officers, but was quickly taken into custody.

As officers continued to investigate the theft, it was determined that the suspect taken into custody for the late morning theft was the same suspect from the early morning robbery.

Perez is currently being held in the Webster County Jail.

Starting at $4.94/week.
