Parts of Dolliver Memorial State Park and the surrounding area will be closed to traffic as the county works to resurface roadways.

Parts of Dolliver Memorial State Park and the surrounding area will be closed to traffic beginning Wednesday as the county works to resurface roadways.

According to Webster County Engineer Jamie Johll, the county will be resurfacing the roadway from the intersection of Riverside Trail and Webster County Road P59/Nelson Avenue to Dolliver Park Road.

It will also repave Dolliver Park Road southeast six miles through the park to Webster County Road D43/290th Street.

The road was last paved in 1995 and resurfacing is needed to remedy large amounts of cracking and wheel rutting as well as areas where the edge of the pavement is failing.

Fort Dodge Asphalt Co. has a $2,834, 030 contract for the work.

Dolliver Memorial State Park will be closed to traffic from the north entrance of the park south along Quail Avenue to D43/290th Street.

According to Johll, detour routes will be from the intersection of P59 North and Dolliver Park Road east on 225th Street for 0.8 miles to P59 South, south on P59 South for 3.5 miles to D43, and east on D43 to Dolliver Park Road.

All portions of the project will be controlled by flaggers and pilot cars as a portion of the road will be open to one-lane only traffic in the work zone.

A subcontractor for the project began lining the culverts earlier this month, and all but two have been completed. The two remaining culverts are located inside of Dolliver Memorial State Park and have been underwater.

The major operations, according to Johll, will begin with the cold-in-place recycling of the existing pavement on Wednesday.

The hot mix asphalt paving project is anticipated to take eight to 12 weeks to complete.

Starting at $4.94/week.
