Brady O'Brien will host a country music concert this Saturday inside Decker Auditorium, showcasing area talent while raising money for the Fort Dodge Fine Arts Association's Phillips Auditorium.

A throwback vibe will resonate through the Iowa Central Community College Center for the Performing Arts inside Decker Auditorium this Saturday.

Brady O’Brien Live will host its latest concert fundraiser, “Gone Country,” as a full lineup of area talent brings a vast array of country music to the stage in an evening designed to raise money for a new Fort Dodge Fine Arts Association Phillips Auditorium sound system.

“I chose to do a country show because I felt that it is something the community has asked for, and I wanted to try something different,” O’Brien said. “Country is a very popular genre in the Fort Dodge region, so we are excited to bring a wide variety of country music to the stage.”

O’Brien has again compiled a long list of familiar musicians for this performance. Liv McNair, Alyssa Allbee, Malaney Butrick, Brayden Schmieder, Mason O’Brien, Reese Pederson, Jake Rossow and a host of others are covering some of country’s most famous artists from the last 30-plus years: Reba McEntire, Travis Tritt, Joe Diffie, Dolly Parton, Jelly Roll, Chris Stapleton and many more.

“One of the best — and hardest aspects — of designing a show is choosing the vocalists,” O’Brien said. “We are blessed in our community with so many talented people. I love getting the opportunity to work with these incredible singers and being able to push them to do their best.

Fort Dodge's Malaney Butrick is among the scheduled performers this Saturday inside Decker Auditorium for the Brady O'Brien Live "Gone Country" concert, which will raise money for the Fort Dodge Fine Arts Association's Phillips Auditorium.

“I think it’s so important to give these performers the opportunity to showcase their talent in a local environment, but also, at a professional level.”

As is the case with every Brady O’Brien Live event, all proceeds raised during the evening’s festivities will go to an important cause.

“We decided the Fort Dodge Fine Arts Association’s historic Phillips Auditorium would be the primary fundraising target for two reasons,” O’Brien said. “First, I believe the fine arts are so important and can bring an entire community together. Having another space that allows for these community-centered events is amazing.

“Also, many people don’t realize everything that goes into a production. I have been involved in a few at Phillips, and it takes a lot of effort to bring in the lights, sound, set, and more. So we want to raise money to help fund a new (permanent) sound system designed for that space.”

Tickets are available for purchase in advance at https://bradyobrienlive.com. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. this Saturday, with McNair kicking things off at 7:30 p.m. There will be a silent auction to complement the performance.

“I’m excited to be back at Decker Auditorium — especially after the new remodel,” O’Brien said. “It was a tough choice to pick a venue this year. After a high-energy outdoor rock show at Oleson Park last July, I’m looking forward to moving to an indoor show.

“Decker Auditorium works well as a venue for Brady O’Brien Live because, as many people know, I like to include a lot of stage magic in each show. Decker allows my team and I the space to bring these visions to life.”

O’Brien also promises “one of the most energetic shows to date.”

“The songs featured will be sure to make the audience move, clap, and sing along,” O’Brien said. “There are some exciting special effects that I’m excited for the community to see as well.”

O’Brien continues to stress the importance of both cultivating and promoting the talent in his own backyard.

“Supporting local musicians and venues in each Brady O’Brien Live show is very important to me,” O’Brien said. “Many people think the only place to go see a great concert is at an arena or stadium, but there are so many great places for live music and brilliant productions at a local level.

“I’m so thankful to the Fort Dodge community for their support in our mission. Without the community, none of this would be possible.”

Brady O’Brien Live — a nonprofit production company founded in 2021 — has hosted eight concerts in Fort Dodge, raising money for various causes and donating a total of $23,104 to different charities in the region.
