Crimmins, Secor now on the ballot for FD City Council

Two more candidates are on the ballot for this year’s Fort Dodge City Council election.

Councilwoman Megan Secor is seeking re-election to a full four-year term as an at-large member of council. She won a Feb. 7 special election to fill the last few months of former Councilman Neven Conrad’s term after he resigned to become the Humboldt County magistrate.

Jen Crimmins is running to represent Ward 1. Councilman Terry Moehnke represents that ward. Moehnke announced Monday that he is not seeking reelection.

Ward 1 includes western Fort Dodge, Pleasant Valley, and part of downtown. Councilmembers elected from the wards serve two-year terms.

Councilmen Cameron Nelson (Ward 2). Dave Flattery (Ward 3) and Kim Alstott (Ward 4) are the other candidates on the ballot so far.

Megan Secor

Secor, of 2531 Woodland Drive, is co-owner and marketing coordinator for Soldier Creek Winery.

She a native of Texas who came to Iowa when her parents, who are Iowa natives, moved the family to their home state. She is a graduate of North Butler High School in Greene, and earned a bachelor’s degree from Iowa State University in Ames.

She and her husband, Robert, have two children.

Crimmins, of 140 Country Club Drive, is the senior vice president at Citizens Community Credit Union. In that role, she oversees human resources, information technology and compliance, among other things.

She serves on the Fort Dodge Board of Adjustment, Leadership Fort Dodge Committee and the Iowa Central Community College Foundation board.

Crimmins is a native of Nebraska. She graduated from Bishop Heelan Catholic School in Sioux City. She then earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska.

She and her husband, Jake, have three children.
