Crash sends one to hospital

Fort Dodge police and firefighters work at the scene of a Friday afternoon accident on North 15th Street that sent one person to the hospital. The crash was reported at 3:27 p.m. According to police Sgt. Matt Webb, a southbound Chevrolet sedan was struck by a Chevrolet pickup that was turning west into the driveway of the Village Green Mobile Home Park. The impact of the crash shoved the car over the curb on the west side of North 15th Street into a grassy area in front of some houses. Webb said one person was transported to UnityPoint Health — Trinity Regional Medical Center with a head injury. North 15th Street was closed to southbound traffic at 170th Street, while northbound traffic backed up nearly to 20th Avenue North. The crash remains under investigation by Fort Dodge police. Webster County sheriff’s deputies and the Iowa State Patrol also responded.
