Fort Dodge man sustains injury in stabbing

The Fort Dodge Fire Department and Fort Dodge Police Department responded to a report of a male who had been stabbed at the Countryside Inn/Towers Motel shortly before 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Robert Olson, 45, was found with a non-life-threatening stab wound to the abdomen. A suspect, 19-year-old Tobin Herzenach was arrested and charged with willful injury.

A Fort Dodge man sustained non-life-threatening injuries Friday afternoon after allegedly being stabbed by another man at a motel on the city’s west side.

According to Fort Dodge Police Sgt. Steve Hanson, officers and medics with the Fort Dodge Fire Department, were dispatched to 324 Kenyon Road, room 212, shortly before 4:30 p.m. When officers arrived, they found 45-year-old Robert Olson with a stab wound to his abdomen.

Olson was transported via ambulance to UnityPoint Health — Trinity Regional Medical Center. His injuries were not serious, Hanson said.

A short time after the stabbing, officers located the suspect walking near Avenue O West.

Tobin Herzenach, 19, of Fort Dodge, was arrested and charged with willful injury. He is expected to have his initial appearance in Webster County Magistrate Court this morning.

The motel where the incident took place is known as the Towers Motel or the Countryside Inn.
