St. Edmond Catholic School senior Zach Lawler watched as his older brother, Nick, took part in everything from musicals to football as a Gael.
So when the time came for him to begin his high school journey, he knew exactly what road to follow.
Lawler, who plans to attend Drake University in Des Moines in the fall, has stayed active through singing, performing and athletics over the past four years.
“I believe that, for me, it is important to stay involved because you learn a lot from other people,” Lawler said. “And, at the same time, it allows you to make new friends at any given time.”
Lawler has performed in the school musical along with concert choir and chamber choir. That also allowed him the opportunity to make one of his favorite memories from high school.
“Performing with my brother,” he said. “That was one of my favorite memories, along with doing all of the musicals that the school puts together.”
Lawler credits his “family and my heart” for helping provide him with the desire to perform and hopes that people remember him as “a good kid that can help those who need it.”
In the fall, Lawler will enter Drake University on track to become a pharmacist.
