A car caught fire in a Fort Dodge garage late Sunday afternoon, starting a blaze that destroyed two vehicles and the garage. Firefighters were able to stop the flames from spreading into the house.
The fire at 3116 12th Ave. N. was reported at 4:24 p.m.
According to Fire Department reports, the owners of the home were in the back yard when they noticed smoke.
They opened a door and saw that one of the two cars in the attached garage was on fire. The flames soon spread to the other car and the garage itself.
When firefighters arrived they used a hoseline to extinguish the fire in the garage while another hoseline was taken into the house to put out any flames that started to spread into it.
