County Telecom Board receives audit

Revenues, expenses down for FY21

The Webster County Metropolitan Law Enforcement Telecommunications Board saw a decrease in both revenue and operating expenses during the fiscal year ending June 30, 2021.

Revenues totaled $608,910, a 6.5 percent decrease from the prior year.

Revenues included $607,029 from member assessments and $1,881 from “miscellaneous income.”

Expenses for FY21 totaled $584,842, a nearly 12 percent decrease from the year before.

Support services was the largest expense for the board, at $572,112, followed by $6,904 for professional services and $3,450 for insurance.

Including $2 in dividends received in FY21, the Telecom Board added $24,070 to its cash balance, bringing the organization’s total cash balance to $236,636.

Schnurr and Company LLP released its annual audit report on March 23 to the Iowa State Auditor’s Office.

According to the Webster County Sheriff’s Office, the decrease in expenses and revenues is primarily due to a decrease in member assessments and a decrease in salaries and benefits.

Schnurr’s audit of the board also found no internal control deficiency and no instances of non-compliance, as well as no questionable disbursements and no restricted donor activity.
