A man from Sioux Falls, S.D. was killed in a two-vehicle accident Monday just before 7 p.m. on U.S. Highway 20 in Hamilton County, according to Iowa State Patrol crash reports.

Rodney Earl Hutt, 61, died when the 2013 Toyota Avalon he was driving collided with the rear of a semi tractor trailer driven by Abraham Weldemikael, 24, of Hyattsville, MD. Hutt’s vehicle became lodged underneath the trailer. Both vehicles were traveling west on Highway 20 near the 146 mile marker..

Weldemikael was operating the semi for DMSE Trucking LLC of Dallas, Texas.

The accident remains under investigation. The Iowa State Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Hamilton County Sheriff’s office, Iowa Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Enforcement, Kamrar Fire Department, Webster City Fire Department, and the Van Diest Medical Center ambulance.
