Supervisors approve zoning change

The rezoning of a piece of property in southern Webster County was finalized by the Board of Supervisors Tuesday.

The change impacts about 39 acres two miles east of the intersection of 340th Street and Vasse Avenue. The board voted to switch the site from the agricultural preservation category to the transitional agriculture category. Supervisor Bob Thode was absent from the otherwise unanimous vote.

The property owner, Michael Gentosi, of Urbandale, plans to build a cabin on the site.

In other business, the board voted to buy new carpet for the supervisors meeting room and adjacent areas on the second floor of the courthouse from Jim’s Carpet One, of Fort Dodge, for $6,800. Flooring America Design Center, of Fort Dodge, offered a bid of $7,000.

Also on Tuesday, the board OK’d a paving agreement with the Iowa Department of Transportation.

The state plans to replace a culvert on U. S. Highway 169 at Webster County Road D68 south of Dayton. Under the agreement approved Tuesday, the state’s contractor will repave the first 50 feet of Webster County Road D68 on the east and west sides of U.S. Highway 169. The county will pay $60,000 for that work.
