Five candidates seeking two at-large seats on the Fort Dodge City Council are on today’s primary election ballot.

The candidates are Brooke Bickford, Richard Higgins, Quennel McCaleb, Eugene Newsome and Councilwoman Lydia Schuur.

The top four vote getters will advance to the Nov. 2 general election.

The polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

A list of polling places is listed below and a map of their locations is attached.

Bickford manages Bickford Realty in Fort Dodge; Higgins and Newsome are retired; and McCaleb is a student support services/transition specialist for the Fort Dodge Community School District. Schuur, who is seeking her second term, is the communications specialist for the Greater Fort Dodge Growth Alliance.

A primary election is not needed for mayor or any of the four council seats elected from the wards because of the small number of candidates in those races.
