Where do you teach?

\Duncombe Elementary School

What grade/subject do you teach? Third grade

Why do you teach?

I teach because it is the most rewarding job in the world. I teach in hopes to spark interest and curiosity. I teach because children are the future. It’s our role as teachers to be their champion, guiding and leading them to become lifelong learners and contributors to our society.

What is your favorite part of the school day?

My most favorite part of the school day is when we have our morning meeting. It’s a great time to learn about my students and help them build relationships and make connections not only with me, but with the other students as well. It’s wonderful to see our classroom become a family.

What are you working hardest on right now?

Since we are closed for the school year, I am working hard on familiarizing myself with the third grade standards and learning more about our curriculum to ensure every 3rd grade student gets what they need to be successful.

What are you most proud of as a teacher?

What I am most proud of as a teacher is when I have a former student come back and visit me and mention something that we did during a lesson. It means the world to me knowing that whatever we were doing that day had a lasting impact on them.

What makes you the happiest as a teacher?

What makes me most happy as a teacher is when I see my students have their “lightbulb” moment where everything clicks and makes sense. I love to see my students go through the learning process and figure out that it is okay to make mistakes and that those mistakes make us stronger. It’s amazing and humbling to watch students grow and develop the desire and will to learn.

How do you contribute to/how are you involved in our community outside of school?

I contribute to the community outside of school by supporting students in their extracurricular activities as well as investing in other community projects.

What are your interests/hobbies outside of school?

My interests and hobbies include cooking and chasing after my twin boys! I love to cook and try new recipes all the time!

What do you wish your students/families knew about you?

I wish my students and families knew that this is more than a job for me. I truly love teaching and being able to interact with students every day. They are my why!

What does Together We Rise mean to you?

Together We Rise means that we are going to ensure that every student reaches their academic potential by giving them the tools to help create resiliency and a love of learning.
