Calhoun County confirms second COVID-19 case

ROCKWELL CITY — A second adult in Calhoun County has tested positive for COVID-19 as of Wednesday.

Calhoun County Public Health confirmed that an adult, aged 18-40, tested positive for the novel coronavirus on Wednesday afternoon.

The county’s first positive case was identified on May 1 and was an older adult, aged 40-65.

According to the Iowa Department of Public Health, 204 individuals in Calhoun County have been tested for COVID-19. Two have tested positive, while 202 have tested negative.

Calhoun County Public Health is currently completing contact tracing on this individual. Any person who fits the criteria and has been in contact with the patient will be contacted by Calhoun County Health Services.

“We’ll hope for the best and continue social distancing and trying to do things right here in the county,” said Carl Legore, a Calhoun County supervisor and the county’s public information officer.
