Park project on tap for Fort Dodge council Monday

Work at Armstrong Park and a proposal to dispose of some land near Amigo’s are on the agenda for the Fort Dodge City Council on Monday.

The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. Because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the meeting will be held electronically, with only a few officials present in the Municipal Building. The majority of the city officials and the public will participate in the meeting remotely by internet or phone.

To observe the meeting via the internet, go to zoom.us and enter meeting ID number 846 2363 9350. To listen to the meeting by phone, dial 312-626-6799 and enter that meeting ID number when prompted.

Armstrong Park is near Exposition Drive and North Seventh Street. It’s best known for its pond and The Lions Den, a meeting site for the Lions Club where other public events are also held. The upcoming project will create a wetlands there to naturally clean the stormwater that drains into the pond.

Crow River Construction, of New London, Minnesota, has submitted the apparent low bid of about $423,000 for the job.

Also on Monday, the council will consider giving up city ownership of some property near Amigo’s, 280 N. First St. The property has served as part of the parking area and yard for the restaurant and bar, but it is actually city right of way. The council will consider selling the property to the bar for $1. Amigo’s is owned by Webster County Supervisor Mark Campbell.

A nearly $600,000 contract for repairing parts of South 30th Street and Seventh Avenue South will also be considered by the council.
