Supervisors approve parking fine collection

The Webster County Board of Supervisors approved an agreement with the city of Gowrie Tuesday for delinquent fine collection.

Delinquent parking tickets from the city of Gowrie will now be processed through Webster County through a 28E agreement between the city of Gowrie and Webster County, approved by Supervisors Tuesday.

The agreement allows the Webster County treasurer to collect delinquent parking fines on behalf of the city. After processing payments, the treasurer’s office will send the funds to Gowrie and collect a $5 processing fee for each fine collected, according to Webster County Treasurer Brenda Angstrom.

In other business, supervisors approved one sealed bid from Maier Landscaping, of Fort Dodge, for the demolition and cleanup of 2206 S. 14th St. The bid for $20,455, included demolition, tire removal and cleanup. It was the only bid received.

The project requires the dismantling and removal of a double-wide manufactured home, two small structures, a fence, junk, debris and excess trees and vegetation.

Supervisors also moved to approve Jamie Johll, county engineer, to fill the vacancy of assistant to the engineer left by the promotion of Ryan Weideman to Assistant County Engineer.

The county recorder reported $54,659 in fees collected for the last quarter ending in September. That sum includes fees collected from recording fees and various licensing fees.

The VA Persons Served Report, filed with Supervisors Tuesday, indicated that 14 people were served in Fiscal Year 2020. Total expenditures came to $5,814. The fund helps veterans in need with various emergency or unanticipated expenses such as payment of rent of utility bills or funeral costs.
