One injured in early morning shooting

Fort Dodge police still investigating, seek public’s help in solving case

One person was injured in an early morning shooting on the 900 block of Fourth Avenue North, according to the Fort Dodge Police Department.

The incident happened around 3 a.m. Sunday morning.

“Multiple rounds were fired,” said Lt. Matt Lundberg, with the FDPD.

One victim was injured and transported to UnityPoint Health — Trinity Regional Medical Center by private vehicle, Lundberg said.

“Last I heard, he was transferred to Des Moines, but I don’t believe he had life-threatening injuries,” he said.

During the incident, three vehicles and two houses were hit with gunshots. Officials were still in the area collecting evidence as of late morning Sunday.

“At this point, we’re still actively investigating and we’ve collected a lot of evidence and we’ll be doing that for a while,” Lundberg said.

Lundberg said the police department does not know of any other injuries related to the incident.

The FDPD is asking anyone who was in the area who may have heard or seen something, or who have security cameras installed, to reach out to the department.

There have been no arrests made in relation to this incident, and it remains under investigation.
