Deputy sheriffs and volunteer firefighters work at the scene of a two-car collision late Friday afternoon at the intersection of Iowa Highway 7 and Easter Avenue, north of Barnum. Sgt. Aaron Smidt, of the Iowa State Patrol, said one person was taken to UnityPoint Health — Trinity Regional Medical Center suffering from injuries that were not considered life-threatening. Smidt said an Oldsmobile that was westbound on Iowa Highway 7 slowed to turn south onto Easter Avenue and was struck from behind by a westbound Toyota. The crash was reported at 4:12 p.m. Firefighters from Barnum and Clare, the Clare Emergency Medical Service, Webster County sheriff’s deputies and the Iowa State Patrol responded.
