Webster City fire fighters battle a blaze that destroyed a cart shed at the Briggs Woods Golf Course south of Webster City on Sunday.

WEBSTER CITY — A fire at Briggs Woods Golf Course Sunday night destroyed one cart shed and its contents, and damaged a second shed, according to Webster City Fire Department officials.

Just after 7 p.m. Sunday, Kamrar Fire Department was notified of a building on fire at 2501 Briggs Woods Road.

While enroute, Kamrar Fire requested mutual aid from the Webster City Fire Department.

Webster City Fire Chief Chuck Stansfield said Engine 33 responded to the fire, and upon arrival found one of the golf cart shacks fully engulfed in flames.

Kamrar fire was already on scene and had begun the fire attack.

WCFD connected to a water supply from a hydrant on scene and began to assist Kamrar. Another line from Kamrar was also used to protect the adjacent cart shed exposure.

The fire was under control in a matter of a minute, Stansfield said.

Firefighters continued extensive overhaul and putting out hot spots. Kamrar Fire Department continued to work on finishing the overhaul and then cleared the scene.

“Because of the great work from Kamrar and Webster City fire departments, the fire was contained to the one building and just partial other,” Stansfield said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, but will likely be undetermined due to the extent of damage incurred, Stansfield said. No estimate of the total damage was available Monday.
