2 injured when SUV collides with school van

Two people suffered minor injuries when an SUV and a Humboldt school minivan collided at the intersection of North 15th Street and 10th Avenue North Tuesday morning, according to Fort Dodge police reports.

The crash was reported at 7:41 a.m.

According to police, Carol McKenna, 78, of Livermore, was driving a Chevrolet Uplander north on North 15th Street.

Dakotah Lagerstrom, 14, of Callender, was traveling westbound in a Ford Escape on 10th Avenue North.

Lagerstrom reportedly pulled out into the intersection and struck the front passenger side of the van driven by McKenna.

The collision caused the van to leave the roadway and strike a MidAmerican Energy Co. utility pole.

Both vehicles sustained severe damage.

McKenna was transported by ambulance to UnityPoint Health — Trinity Regional Medical Center.

Lagerstrom was transported to Trinity by a private vehicle, police reported.

Lagerstrom was cited for failure to obey stop and yield right of way.

The Fort Dodge Police Department and Fort Dodge Fire Department were on scene.
