Corwith-Wesley MS/HS to be demolished
The Corwith-Wesley School Board voted Tuesday to demolish the district’s middle and high school building.
The board unanimously agreed to demolish the building after an emotional public hearing.
“Lot’s of tears were shed,” said Jon Hueser, superintendent. “I’m very proud of (the board) for sticking up and saying we need to make this decision.”
Hueser said the decision wasn’t popular, but necessary.
“It was probably the toughest decision some of these people will ever have to make,” he said. “Whether they like the decision or not, they made a decision in the interest of the community long term.”
Voters decided in September 2014 to dissolve the Corwith-Wesley Community School District.
Elementary students will move to the Lu Verne Community School District; middle and high school students will go to Algona.
