FD students recognized by governor

Grant Heldorfer, a St. Edmond Catholic School student; and Gracie Miller and Josh Meier, Fort Dodge Senior High students, were recognized by Gov. Kim Reynolds and Lt. Gov. Adam Gregg for outstanding academic achievement at the 19th annual Governor’s Scholar Recognition Ceremony at Hy-Vee Hall in Des Moines. The statewide program, sponsored by the Iowa Governor’s Office, Iowa High School Athletic Association and its title sponsor, the Iowa Farm Bureau Federation, honored 424 high school seniors from across Iowa.

Finnegan makes Dean’s List

Katelyn Finnegan, of Otho, was named to the Wartburg College Winter/May Term Dean’s List. Finnegan is a 2018 St. Edmond Catholic High School graduate. The college recognized 494 students for Winter/May Term. The list honors students who earned a cumulative grade-point average of 3.5 or above in at least five course credits during the terms. Four of the five course credits have to be graded with a traditional letter grade. Wartburg students take four courses during Winter Term, which runs from January through April, and one course during the one-month May Term.

Tighe named to Dean’s List

Emily E. Tighe, the granddaughter of Dick Tighe, of Webster City, has been named to the Dean’s List at the University of Notre Dame’s College of Arts and Letters for outstanding scholarship during the spring 2021 semester. Tighe, of Tullahoma, is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Richard Tighe, of Tullahoma. She graduated from Notre Dame in May and will begin work on her Ph.D. in cognitive neuroscience at the University of Utah in August.

Alumni scholarship winners named

The 2021 recipients of the Fort Dodge Senior High Alumni Association scholarships are: Gabrielle Armstrong, daughter of Shannon McLary (1996); Kennedy Johnson, daughter of Amy Johnson (1995); Brooke Hansen, daughter of Jodi Smith (1998) and Shane Hansen (1997); Emie Grove, daughter of Jodie Lloyd (1996) and Luke Grove (1996); and Madison Vinchattle, daughter of Shawn Hynes (1998). Area students on St. Luke’s President’s List

SIOUX CITY — Three area students have made the St. Luke’s College President’s List, Sioux City, for the spring semester 2021. The students did so by achieving a grade-point average of 3.5 or above and satisfactory clinical attainment for that session. Amanda Zimmerman, a third-year student, is pursuing her bachelor of science in nursing. She is a graduate of Princeville Community High School, Princeville, Illinois. Seven FDSH students selected for All State Speech

Fort Dodge Senior High’s speech team had a successful individual speech season. Seven individual performances were selected for All State Speech honors. This is the highest honor a speech participant can receive.
