Peterson Transportation Inc. honored with Iowa Venture Award

MANSON — Peterson Transportation Inc. was a recipient of an Iowa Venture Award. Peterson Transportation of rural Manson is a long-distance hauler focusing on flat-bed delivery of steel and wood. The 20-year-old company has grown to a fleet of 45 semi-trucks and 125 trailers. Peterson Transportation employs over 70 people, including 55 drivers. The company recently invested over $3.5 million to grow the fleet and expand and renovate its headquarters and facilities. LAKE CITY — Stewart Memorial Community Hospital and the McCrary Rost Clinic was named a 2019 Guardian of Excellence Award winner by Press Ganey. The Guardian of Excellence Award recognizes top-performing health care organizations that have achieved the 95th percentile or above of performance in Patient Experience. Kelley becomes court appointed special advocate

April Kelley, of Dakota City, was sworn into service as a court appointed special advocate volunteer by District Associate Judge Joseph Tofilon at the Webster County Law Enforcement Center in Fort Dodge. Kelley joins others who volunteer and work with the Iowa Child Advocacy Board, the agency which provides oversight and training for the CASA program and the Foster Care Review Board in the state of Iowa. Kelley serves as a CASA for children whose cases originate in North Iowa, a region that includes Webster, Humboldt, Hamilton, Wright, Pocahontas, and Calhoun counties.

Hy-Vee Homefront helps veterans, families

WEST DES MOINES — Hy-Vee, Inc. announced that its annual Hy-Vee Homefront Round Up and Veterans Day breakfast raised more than $227,750; provided more than 85,000 free breakfasts; and collected 100,000 letters of appreciation for current service men and women stationed around the world. The events took place at more than 265 Hy-Vee stores across the company’s eight-state region. Mettler receives funeral director license

Mark Timothy Mettler with Gunderson Funeral Home and Cremation Services recently received his funeral director license from the state of Iowa. Mettler relocated from Cedar Rapids to join Gunderson’s in September 2018 for his funeral internship. He is a graduate of Kennedy High School in Cedar Rapids. Mettler holds a business administration degree from Mount Mercy University.
