Brady O’Brien, left, will be presenting a Christmas concert called “A Very Merry Christmas” Dec. 18 at the Iowa Central Decker Auditorium with lead vocalist, Jordyn Putney, right.

Decker Auditorium will be filled with the sounds of Christmas spirit next weekend when Brady O’Brien presents “A Very Merry Christmas.”

The concert will feature several musicians from around central Iowa and a variety of holiday music.

The concert will be free but there will be a free will donation and silent auction with proceeds going toward local charities, Serving our Servants and Broken Strings and area families in need for a new Christmas tree and Christmas dinner.

O’Brien, a senior at St. Edmond High School said, “We’re hosting the live show because we are wanting to raise money for other nonprofits and families in our community through our love of live music.”

O’Brien said he was inspired by other artists who have done similar events to create this show.

“I do all the arranging and writing of the music, the whole production, along with my board,” he said. “I basically put my love of piano, my love of music, love of helping people and love of creating a production all in one in order to create the show.”

O’Brien said he’s always loved helping others and he’s excited to tie that together with his love of music.

“I love collaborating, collaborating with other artists in the community, and creating music and so basically, I put all of that together. And that’s how the show was born,” he said.

The show promises to be a unique experience with something for everyone.

“It’s kind of something that I would say Fort Dodge has never really seen before,” O’Brien said. “It’s kind of a mixture of live music, the whole stage production, mixed with outfit changes, grand piano changes, the list goes on of the magic. If you like music, it’s going to have something that you like. Also we have a special guest from the North Pole for the kids of course.”

“A Very Merry Christmas” will be held Dec. 18 at Iowa Central Decker Auditorium. Doors will open at 6 p.m. and the show will begin at 7 p.m.
