Live wood carving at Goldfield’s Down Memory Lane Park Tuesday

GOLDFIELD — Down Memory Lane Park, Goldfield, is holding a live wood carving of a bald eagle from the grand old ash tree from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday at the park located on Mills Street in Goldfield. There will be refreshments, cookies and bars available for a freewill offering and a raffle. Bring your own chair and enjoy the show. Those attending may want to bring earplugs. Raffle tickets are $5 per ticket or five for $20. Proceeds go to funds for the park improvements.

Lake City UCW holding ice cream social Sunday

LAKE CITY — Lake City Union Church Women are holding an ice cream social from 11 a.m. Sunday at the church in Lake City. The menu includes pulled pork sandwiches and homemade pie and ice cream for a freewill donation. Carryouts will be available.

Live bats program is today

Webster County Conservation is holding a live bats program at 10 a.m. today at the Matt Cosgrove River’s Edge Discovery Center, 20 N. First St. The presenter is Kim White, the Natural Naturalist, from Chicago. Learn more about bats and see live bats on-hand. Bats are not blind or dirty animals. This presentation will help you understand, appreciate, and maybe make you fall in love with this misunderstood creature.
