Local church and businesses team up to help single moms, widows

New Covenant Church together with Fort Dodge Transmission, Laughlin Auto Repair, Advance Auto Parts, and O’Reilley Auto Parts are teaming together for a free oil change for widows and single moms with minors still living at home. This is an event that New Covenant has been involved in since 2002. Volunteers from New Covenant will be performing the labor on the vehicles and the women’s ministry will be providing hospitality while the car owners wait for their vehicles to be serviced. Three Bridges gospel group to perform in Fort Dodge tonight

Three Bridges, a trio noted for blending two distinct gospel music styles, will perform in Fort Dodge tonight. The concert will begin at 7 p.m. in First Covenant Church, 201 Ave. H. The church is located north of Iowa Central Community College on U.S. Highway 169. A freewill offering will be accepted. The trio consists of Elliott McCoy, baritone; Shannon Smith, lead singer; and Jeremie Hudson, tenor. McCoy is a native of Kentucky who has been a gospel singer for 38 years. Area residents attend Missionary League convention at Camp Okoboji

The Lutheran Women’s Missionary League of Iowa West District held its 38th biennial convention June 28-30 at Camp Okoboji in Milford. More than 350 people attended. The theme for the gathering was ‘‘On Christ the solid rock I stand,’’ based on the gospel of Matthew, chapter seven, verse 24. Fort Dodge couples lead fundraising dinner for Catholic schools

Two Fort Dodge couples have been named the 2018 chair couples for the 22nd annual Bishop’s Dinner for Catholic Schools, according to an announcement from the Diocese of Sioux City. They are Dan and Roxanne Flattery and Dave and Debbie Flattery.
