Eight Webster County 4-H members competed at the State Shooting Sports Match in Searsboro at Big Springs Shooting Complex on Aug. 29. 4-H Safety and Education in Shooting Sports (SESS) uses skills and disciplines of shooting to assist young people and their leaders in obtaining knowledge and developing life skills. The disciplines include archery, rifle, shotgun, muzzleloader and wildlife skills. Cyber attack shuts down Fort Dodge Community School District

School is canceled Thursday in the Fort Dodge Community School District due to an outage of phone and internet services after a cyber attack today. The district started experiencing an outage of the utilities in buildings early Wednesday morning after a cyber attack locked down its servers, according to Jennifer Lane, director of communications and community relations for the district. FDHS Alumni Association awards scholarships

The Fort Dodge High School Alumni Association has awarded five scholarships to 2020 graduates. Serena Leith Serena Leith is the recipient of the Cecil and Ernie Zuerrer Family Scholarship. Her father, James Leith, was a 1991 graduate of Fort Dodge Senior High and was involved in band activities, as was Serena. She participated in Symphonic Band, Marching Band and color guard. She was also active in Women’s Chorale, A Cappella Choir, Vox Femina Choir and high school musicals. Serena plans to attend Iowa Central Community College with a major in early childhood education. Little Crusaders Daycare receives grant

Little Crusaders Daycare, located at Community Christian School, opened its doors in January 2019. The daycare has received a grant of $9,798 from Linking Families and Community to expand the space and have a separate 3’s and 4’s childcare room. The grant included monies to pay for essential items such as tables and chairs, cubbies, dramatic play and art supplies, as well as “Creative Curriculum” for both 3’s and 4’s and for the infants’ and 2’s rooms.
