Pocahontas Community Band concert Thursday
POCAHONTAS — The Pocahontas Community Band County Fair concert is 5 p.m. Thursday at the Pocahontas County Fairgrounds. There will be a pork supper and free ice cream.
Coffee and Conservation is July 12
Webster County Conservation is holding Coffee and Conservation at 10 a.m. July 12 at the Matt Cosgrove River’s Edge Discovery Center, 20 N. First St. Each month there will be an informal discussion about a variety of conservation/recreation topics in Webster County. Coffee and light snacks will be provided. July’s topic is archaeology awareness presented by Deann Haden, certified field and laboratory technician, Iowa Archaeological Society.
FD blood drive is July 18
LifeServe Blood Center invites the community to this year’s blood donor day in an effort to boost the community blood supply during the summer, often referred to as trauma season. FDPL Children’s Department Adventure is Tuesday
Join the Fort Dodge Public Library, 424 Central Ave., at 10 a.m. Tuesday for Bigger Bang Bubbles. Absolute Science will dazzle us with fire, bubble fog and a nearly perfect cube bubble while taking ordinary bubbles to the extreme. All children attending must be accompanied by an adult. Adventures are sponsored by the Friends of the Library and are free of charge. ‘Music of the West African Kora’ for adults and teens at the Fort Dodge Public Library July 14
Join the Fort Dodge Public Library, 424 Central Ave., to listen to “Music of the West African Kora” at 6 p.m. on July 14 in the large meeting room. Sean Gaskell features songs on the kora – a 21 stringed West African harp. The kora is traditionally played by oral historians known as Griots. Many songs featured on the kora preserve an 800 year history dating back to the foundation of the Mande empire. If you are a music lover, you will love this program. Fort Dodge Federated Garden Club is holding its 23rd annual garden tour, “Twilight Tour,” from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, rain or shine, at 1624 N. 27th St. Advance tickets may be purchased at Becker Florist, 1335 First Ave. N., or the day of the tour at 1624 N. 27th St. Tickets are $10 for adults with children ages 14 and under free with a parent.
