The Fort Dodge Federated Garden Club will meet at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Lion’s Den, 731 Exposition Drive. We will be making mini flower arrangements for Friendship Haven. If interested, bring clippers, smaller flowers if you have them and lids that fit laundry soap filled with wet foam. It’s amazing how beautiful these arrangements look when we are finished. HARCOURT — Faith Lutheran Church, Harcourt, is holding an ice cream social and bake sale from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 24 at the church. Loose meat sandwiches, chips, baked beans, pie and homemade ice cream will be served for a freewill offering.
HOMER — The Homer Threshing Bee is 8 a.m. Aug. 23 and 24 in Homer, eight miles north of Stratford on Hamilton County Road R21. The bee will feature Hart-Parr, Oliver and Cockshutt tractors and equipment, antique displays and demonstrations. Admission is $5 per person and is good for both days.
OTHO — Otho United Methodist Church, Otho, is hosting a live concert starring Chuck Crain, of Branson, Missouri, at 7 p.m. Aug. 27 at the church. Everyone is welcome to attend. A love offering will be taken for Crain.
POCAHONTAS — The Princess City car show is 3 to 6 p.m. today on Main Street in Pocahontas. There will be door prizes, live music and food.
SAC CITY — Quilt makers and quilt owners, it is time to get those special quilts entered for the Sac County Quilt-A-Fair. The quilt show takes place on Sept. 19 and 20, but registration forms for quilts to be displayed must be completed in advance. Registrations are due on Thursday. Print copies of the registration forms are available in Sac County libraries. Forms can also be downloaded and printed from the barn quilt web site: www.barnquilts.com.
