Tritons open outdoor track season

DES MOINES — The Iowa Central track and field team kicked off the outdoor season by competing in the Viking Relays hosted by Grand View this past weekend. U’Nitee Brown, Angus Alberts and Haydn Stockdale all earned national invites in throwing events, with Brown and Alberts qualifying in the shot put. The Iowa Central baseball team is No. 12 in the latest NJCAA Div. II Top-25. The Tritons (24-1 overall) have reeled off 20 consecutive wins, scoring 361 runs this season with 84 home runs in 25 games. They completed a three-game ICCAC sweep of Des Moines Area this past weekend at Rogers Park. Triton softball squad enters rankings

On the heels of an 18-game win streak, the Iowa Central softball team has landed in the NJCAA Div. II Top-25 this week. The Tritons (21-3 overall) are ranked 21st, as they are one of three new teams to the rankings along with No. 18 Northwest Mississippi and No. 25 Kansas City-Kansas. Pearl River is No. 1 once again followed by Murray State, Copiah-Lincoln, ICCAC rival Kirkwood and Rock Valley. Other ranked ICCAC schools include ninth-rated Des Moines Area and No. 22 North Iowa Area. Iowa Central is at Iowa Lakes on Wednesday.
