Area players reign on all-TLC girls squads
Reigning Class 1A state champion Newell-Fonda placed two on the all-Twin Lakes Conference first team, the league announced.
Sophomore Ellie Sievers and freshman Quinn Sievers were on the top squad, along with Emmetsburg’s Dylan Fiene and Rachel Schany. Khloe Mefferd of Pocahontas Area, Avery Wilson from Sioux Central and GTRA teammates Caitlyn Hough and Kamryn Hough rduonded out the honor squad.
Fiene, a junior, and Schany, a senior, led the E-Hawks to an 11-0 record in the conference, winning the regular season title. They ended Newell-Fonda’s run atop the standings and also qualified for the 2A state tournament.
Calista Joyce from Emmetsburg, Rylee Hogrefe of Newell-Fonda, Alayna Kakacek, Sarah Bontrager from East Sac County and Blair Schleisman of South Central Calhoun were on the second team from the area.
Third-team status went to Nora Nelson of Emmetsburg, Jocee Walsh from Newell-Fonda, Kristin Axman of Pocahontas Area, Reese Aschinger of East Sac County and Addie Montag from West Bend-Mallard.
Emmetsburg’s Anny Fiene was the TLC coach of the year.
