Mason Denholm has the Iowa Central men’s basketball team off to a strong start.

The Tritons (4-0 overall) kept their perfect early streak alive under their new head coach, routing Marshalltown (1-4) by a final of 103-66 on the second day of the Great Western Dining Classic inside Hodges Fieldhouse.

It was the second win of the season for Iowa Central over the Tigers. The Tritons won 101-72 earlier this month.

Iowa Central burst out of the gates by building a 51-33 at the break. It was a balanced effort, as six Tritons reached double figures and all 13 players reached the scoring column.

Tashun Pender led the way with a near double-double. Ponder had 16 points and nine rebounds.

Dorian Pruitt came off the bench for 12 points.

CJ Mitchell had 13 points. Jalen Wynter and Jordan Cain had 11 each, while Manny Lueth added 11.

Iowa Central got 45 points from their bench. The Tritons out-rebounded the Tigers 38-24.

Iowa Central is back in action on Friday at the DMACC Classic.
