Triton women, Rajkovic fare well in Big Ole Open
ALEXANDRIA, Minn. — The Iowa Central bowling teams were in action at the Big Ole Open/MIBC 1 here this past weekend at Garden Center Lanes.
The Triton men were led on Saturday by Nicholas Rajkovic, a freshman from Australia, who took second place with an average of 217.4 per game. On Sunday, Iowa Central checked in at 205.8 during the 12 Baker games and qualified in the second position for match play, where they were eventually ousted by Wartburg.
The Triton women were in fourth both Saturday and Sunday and earned the final match play spot, where they upset the No. 1 seed Coe on the way to the finals. Iowa Central then clinched the match play crown with a victory over Waldorf.
Emma Phelps, a sophomore from Davenport, finished 14th individually on Saturday to lead the way individually.
The Iowa Central junior varsity women claimed runner-up honors.
“We’re super proud of our bowling student-athletes for the growth they’ve had this season,” ICCC head coach Haley Hall said. “We cannot wait to see what we can accomplish the rest of the way.”
The Tritons are at the Mid States Classic this Saturday and Sunday in Wichita, Kan.
